April 12 1999, Marilyn and Ross, two disabled Golden Eagles, hatched two
eaglets. Just as in nature only the strongest eaglet survives, this little eaglet survived and is doing fine, it's strong and growing fast. The eaglet is almost 7 weeks old as of June 3, 1999. Peter Dubacher has a remote control video camera above the nest, where he can watch and record all of their movements. from his office without disturbing the birds. I can't believe six years have gone by since Doty was released |

We hope to have video of the eaglet hatching and growing on this page soon . (March 2000) never happened yet.

Marilyn was hit by a truck 2 years age while picking road kill, she survived but will never fly as her wing is badly damaged.
This shot was from out video camera, you can only get natual shots with a mounted camera. |

This Golden Eaglet was named after Dorothy Laws, of Adams, Massachusetts. A wonderful person who has been a volunteer and supporter of Berkshire Bird Paradise for over 20 years. Thank you Dottie.
Dottie's nest with remote video camera |
We have recorded over 20 hours of Hi8 video tape, in black and white, from the laying of the eggs to the hatching and the rearing of the chick. next year we would like to get a color video camera with sound. We are trying to get into video to show our program better, if anyone has some oder equiptment to donate, that would be great.

I build these habitats for functionality, not for looks, We use whatever materials that are donated or available, otherwise we could never afford them.
![]() Golden Eagle family in breeding habitat |
We don't have funding so we have to work with donated materials, we're not fancy but the birds seem to like it. We have a very successful breathing program despite not haveing a designer look,
Dottie just before release |
Dottie and her family will be moved to a hacking facility. A 20,000 sq ft area where Dottie can leave natually when she is ready. When she was released she stayed in the area for many months, |

Peter is constantly collecting fresh road kill, as this is what eagles eat in the wild. and is also an very inexpensive way of getting fresh natural meat for his birds. And the animal is not going to waste |

Ross came to us from a Zoo that had been down sizing. He is very healthy except for a broken wing. |
